The Quickest, Most Reliable Way to Add Document Imaging Functions to Your Application!

    PixTools EZ DataSheet.pdf

Paper continues to be the mechanism that drives business. Transactions are based on paper contracts, purchase orders, packing lists, and invoices. Although electronic documents are growing in popularity because of the countless ways they make doing business more efficient, paper still predominates and inefficiencies persist.

Now paper documents can be easily managed just like electronic files-with document imaging systems. Having paper documents on computer offers many advantages...Quickly find all documents in one convenient place, a database, instead of filing cabinets. Track documents at any stage of processing-as they move from station to station, person to person. Plus, have multiple users at various office sites accessing documents simultaneously.

Start with PixTools/EZ: the quickest, most reliable way of adding fundamental document imaging functions to your application.

Scan

With Over 300 ISIS Certified Scanners
With PixTools/EZ, your application can interface transparently with over 300 different scanners from Bell & Howell, Canon, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Kodak, Panasonic, Ricoh, Visioneer, and many others—at full rated speeds. PixTools/EZ connects you to any ISIS® certified scanner, including flatbed, sheetfed, simplex, duplex, microfilm, book, or check scanners as well as multifunction devices. ISIS, or “Image and Scanner Interface Specification,” is a leading industry standard that was originally developed in 1990 by Pixel Translations’ scanning experts. Our deep understanding of ISIS is a competitive advantage; no other toolkit provider offers support for more scanners and scanning functions.

PixTools/EZ supports even the most advanced features of all 300+ ISIS certified scanning devices. Special features, like bar code reading for batch processing separation and endorsing for sequential numbering of scanned pages, can be easily controlled through software. Additional features like automatic thresholding, gamma correction, and special filters, are automatically supported when image processing cards are detected in a scanning device. PixTools/EZ scanning functions provide peak performance from every device.

Drive both SCSI and video scanners at or beyond rated speeds—up to 400+ images per minute! Add to this PixTools/EZ’s ScanAhead™ image caching, optimized compression and decompression algorithms, and real-time image rotation, and you have a powerful, high performance scanning solution!

View

With Optimal Speed and Clarity
Once scanned, you’ll want to see your ‘papers’ on screen as quickly as possible. That’s why PixTools/EZ offers exceptional display performance and functionality as well as multipage viewing and sorting. Fast Image Display Document images can be large, 50KB compressed and more than 1MB uncompressed. Superior in-memory image compression and decompression, automatic detection of display accelerators, and image caching and prefetching, ensure that images take less time to display and less space to store.

Exceptional Readability
ScaleToGray™ dramatically improves image quality. Using software or hardware to display image content in relative shades of gray, images are much easier to read.

Multipage Viewing and Sorting
Users working with multiple page documents must have the ability to easily move, insert, or delete pages. Implementing multipage document manipulation can be very complex and time-consuming, so PixTools/EZ includes preprogrammed modules for organizing pages.

Store documents in a single multipage file or multiple single-page files. It’s all transparent to your users. What they see is an intuitive tree view with miniature (thumbnail) images of each page in the document. Inserting, deleting, and moving pages is as simple as using the same select, drag and drop standard familiar to every Windows user. Behind the scenes, PixTools/EZ automatically detects standard file naming schemes (e.g., PAGE001.TIF, PAGE002.TIF, …,PAGE100.TIF) and reorders, renames, and displays the files correctly according to your user’s actions.

Annotate

Text, Highlight, Redaction and More! Optimal document imaging provides for the most clear means of communication—a means to emphasize what’s important and deemphasize what’s not. Users can do just that, using the annotations in PixTools/EZ.

Annotations are text, graphic or color additions made to a document image. All annotations can be saved to TIFF tags or to separate files, or made permanent using the “Merge with Image” function.

PixTools/EZ also supports Wang-annotated TIFF files, so your product can read and write annotations created with products from Eastman Software.

To draw attention to words or sections, Highlight them; put a Box around them; and add Pointers (arrows) or Text. For longer text annotations, use a Sticky Note, which is a pop up text container represented by a small icon. Use a Custom Stamp (or bitmap graphic), like “Rush”, to draw attention to the whole document. And for further emphasis, color your annotations—using any available color from your Windows palette.

To make corrections, circle or cross out areas using the Freehand Line; strike out text with the Pointer Line (minus the arrowheads); or black out words or sections using Redact.

Why Professional Developers Choose PixTools/EZ!

The reason so many industry leaders choose PixTools/EZ is because our number one goal is to make professional developers, like you, successful! We do this by offering superior document imaging functionality that you can implement into your application quickly and easily.

We Mean “Quick”
The faster you bring your product to market, the sooner you’ll enjoy success. That’s why we offer the following to ensure faster development:

  • Working sample applications demonstrating key toolkit features.
  • “How To” tutorial to build a simple imaging application—in just 30 minutes!
  • Context-sensitive on-line help and complete documentation.
  • Select, drag, drop, and enable methodology made available through ActiveX/OCX.
  • Pre-built dialog boxes.
  • Simple, versatile Meta-Controls™: one control bar icon represents a group of related imaging functions which you can choose from when configuring a control. Imagine configuring one control, like ViewSettings, 38 different ways...One click makes the control a ScaleToGray check box, another a Contrast scroll bar, another a Rotation dropdown list box, and so on.

All PixTools/EZ controls automatically interact with each other, instantly updating the display to reflect the current state of the image. This means that controls dim themselves when inactive, and list boxes only display valid choices. You get all of this without writing a single line of code.

THE STANDARD FOR IMAGING TOOLS

We Mean “Easy!”
All the features of PixTools/EZ that make development quick, make it easy. And because our tools prove reliable, we mean easy to the finish. Fast and easy only count when you have the flexibility and support to develop the application you envision. That’s why PixTools/EZ offers over 260 properties, methods, and events.

For additional flexibility, PixTools/EZ’s support for ActiveX/OCX makes it easy to work with other toolkits, including third-party ISIS Pipes supporters. Pixel Translations would like you to think of us as an extension of your engineering department. So if questions arise, you’ll find responsive support is only a call away.

ISIS PIPES - Component Imaging
Using ISIS Pipes connectors, you can easily integrate compatible toolkits from other technology vendors that comply with the Image and Scanner Interface Specification (ISIS) standard. Use the technology you need from the provider you choose. ISIS technology is embodied in the AIIM MS61 specification since 1996. ISIS is a defacto document imaging standard. Pixel Translations originally developed the specification for ISIS in 1990 because we believe that open industry standards lead to freedom to choose what’s best for customers in their ever-changing environment. In creating ISIS Pipes, we continue to build on the cooperation that began with the ISIS standard and the ActionPoint (InputAccel®) open client architecture.
